Edition 1 of 3 + 2AP This piece repurposes an archival photograph of my aunt at a birthday party in early 1970s Mexico. The photograph’s emulsion has been lifted from its original paper and transferred onto a fragment of blue glass recycled from a bottle. The long exposure captures the motion of the event, blurring faces along the way and transforming the image into a hazy recollection rather than a clear memory. The intentional distressing of the image evokes a distant, nostalgic feeling, mirroring the fragmentation of memory and identity— with the cracks and distortion representing the fractured recollections of childhood experiences.
